Marianna (Romano) Terrasi passed away peacefully on June 1, 2022, surrounded by her family in Kansas City, MO, where she has lived a full life for the past 8 years.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and was blessed with many friends that loved her dearly.
With her warm, welcoming smile, open mind, and endless compassion, she knew no strangers and only saw the good in others. An excellent cook, no one ever left her home hungry. She loved to sing Sicilian folk songs, Dean Martin, or songs from her favorite boy band, Il Volo, whom she met backstage at their 2016 Nashville performance.
Marianna was always a fun-loving, social person and for the last several years she enjoyed group activities like bingo, music therapy, painting, and movie night.
She was born in Altofonte, Sicily on September 15, 1927, to Francesca Zummo and Giulio Romano. Marianna and her husband Sam were married in Sicily on January 28, 1947 and immigrated to the United States in 1956 with their two children, Ursula (Jim Miller) Terrasi of Kansas City, MO and Francesco Terrasi. She built her home in Monroe, and was blessed with two more children: Julio (Cristina Riha) Terrasi of Marco Island, FL and Jeanette (Tim) McDonald of West Chester, PA.
She is preceded in death by her husband Sam, her son Francesco, her parents, and all of her seven siblings. She was the end of an era. She leaves behind many broken hearts that will miss her kind, positive and generous spirit. As it is often said; "Marianna is one in a million!"
Marianna was a devout Catholic and a member of the former St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe, MI.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022, from 5 to 8 PM at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd, Monroe, MI 48161. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.
Marianna will lie instate at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 511 S. Monroe St. Monroe, MI 48161, on Saturday, June 11, at 10 AM, followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 11 AM. She will be entombed at St. Joseph Cemetery.
