Maria Catherine "Cathie" Harrington, 50 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 12, 2021 in her home with her loving family at her side.
Born March 30, 1971 in Monroe, Cathie was the daughter of Roselino J. "Russ" and Victoria R. (Kreuchauf) Cusumano. Cathie was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. She attended St. Michael Elementary School and was a 1989 graduate of St. Mary Academy. She then went to Michigan State University where she earned a bachelor of art in education.
On July 19, 1997, Cathie married her beloved husband, Geoffrey M. Harrington, II, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Monroe.
Cathie taught school at St. Mary Elementary School in Monroe for 7 years. She also worked as an event planner for her family's restaurant the SandBar Grille.
Cathie was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Monroe and The Mrs. Claus Club. She enjoyed music, dancing, watching the Golden Girls and Law and Order SVU and her daily brew of Starbucks Coffee. Cathie loved children, which is one of the reasons she became an educator, she even wrote a children's book titled "Charlie". Most of all Cathie cherished being a homemaker and taking care of her family. Her beauty and kindness touched all those who were lucky enough to know her, she will be greatly missed.
Cathie is survived by her husband of 24 years Geoff, three cherished children: Olivia C., Christiaan M. and Jaclyn C. Harrington, her parents, Russ and Vickie Cusumano, a sister, Jennifer (Steven) Bennett, her father and mother-in-law, Geoffrey and Frances Harrington and the family fur baby, Zeke.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-7 pm at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan 48161. On Monday, December 20, 2021 she will lie in state at St. Mary Catholic Church beginning at 10:00 am where Mass of the Resurrection celebrating Cathie's life will begin at 11:00 am. Fr. David Burgard will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe.
