Marguerite Ann Martin, 90 years, of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 17, 2017 in her home with her loving family by her side.
Born October 18, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Mary M. (Mullan) McGeady. Marguerite was a 1945 graduate of Central Catholic Girls High School in Cumberland, Maryland.
On October 14, 1950, Marguerite married her beloved husband John F. "Jack" Martin in Cleveland Ohio. Sadly, he preceded her in death on February 10, 1983 after 32 years of marriage.
Marguerite was a wonderful homemaker and was an excellent cook.
Marguerite has been a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church since moving to Monroe. She was a founding member of the Mercy Memorial Hospital Guild, and its Round Robin Bridge Club, and a member of the Fearsome Foursome Bridge Group. She enjoyed playing Bridge, all types of board games, jigsaw puzzles, music, and reading. She also enjoyed trips to the casino, both in Detroit and Las Vegas. Marguerite was very proud of her Irish heritage and was a woman of incredible faith. Most of all she loved time spent with friends and family.
Marguerite is survived by seven loving children: Gregory (Lisa) Martin of Monroe, John (Jill) Martin of Fredericksburg, TX, James (Jennifer Brown) Martin, Julie (Ronald) Berns, Mary (Frank) Dobberstein, Noreen (Steven) Head and Barbara Brady, all of Monroe, 27 cherished grandchildren, 22 treasured great grandchildren, a sister in law: Irene McGeady of Ashtabula, OH. In addition to her parents and husband, Marguerite was preceded in death by a daughter Jennifer Layhew on July 17, 2013, a sister: Eileen McGeady and two brothers Charles and Francis McGeady.
Visitation will be held on Friday, from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161 where a Rosary will held at 6:00 PM that evening. On Saturday, December 23, 2017 she will lie in state at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church from 10:00 AM until Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her life at 11:00 AM. Fr. Ray Arwady will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe.
