Obituary

Margaret J. "Joann" Wendell, 80 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, MI, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 10, 2012 in the Lutheran Home. Joann had been in declining health since December of 2011.
Born October 29, 1931 in Monroe, MI, Joann was the daughter of the late Samuel V. and Mildred F. (Stanifer) Cadle.
On June 3, 1977 at Stewart Road Church of God, Joann married her beloved husband Bernard R. Wendell. The Rev. Fred Swank performed the ceremony.
Joann was employed as a clerk for Bargain City in Monroe and as a housekeeper for Beach Nursing Home.
Joann was a charter and lifetime member of Stewart Road Christian Ministries Center in Monroe. A very active member of the church, Joann was the organist, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School.
Joann was also a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking and crocheting. A truly Christian lady, Joann was a kind, gracious and sweet person who loved caring for her family and friends.
Joann is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, Bernie, three loving children: Steven E. (Marcia) Dykes of Monroe, Vanessa A. (Jay) Stanfill of Debary, FL, and Lynette F. (Michael) Ackerman of Eau Claire, WI, five cherished grandchildren, eight treasured great grandchildren and one adored great great grandson, and two sisters: Joyce (Al) Sutherland of Monroe, and Jackie Moore of Monroe.
In addition to her parents Joann was preceded in death by a daughter: Elaine Joy, a sister: Barbara Jean Johnson and a brother: John Reppe.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 3-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe. On Tuesday, August 14, 2012, she will lie in state at Stewart Road Christian Ministries Center from 10:00 AM until funeral services celebrating her life at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Fred Swank, retired pastor of the church will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
