Margaret (Peg) Poupard age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2026 at the Saint Therese IHM Senior Living facility in Monroe surrounded by her family and friends.

Born October 27, 1941, in Monroe, Michigan, Peg was the beloved daughter of Thelma (Bauer) Gray and Paul Gray. She attended St. Mary's Grade School and was a 1959 graduate of Monroe High School. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she was Baptized and then married Louie Poupard on May 28th, 1960. This union blessed them with a son, Gregory Poupard and daughter, Denise (Mark) Drake.

Along with being a housewife and mother, Peg began her career as an Avon salesperson where she met several lifelong friends. Peg then went to Monroe Public Schools for many years working as an aide and tutoring many Monroe students. In 1981 Peg received her Insurance License from Michigan State University and began a 30+ year career for the Smith Insurance Agency in Monroe before retiring in 2014.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at family dinners and sporting events. She especially liked euchre, dominos, daily mass on TV, along with all of U of M, MSU, Lions, Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings games that she could catch. She continued to be active volunteering at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital Gift Shop for many years.

The family is thankful for all the amazing care from the surgeons, nurses, and support staff at ProMedica Hospital. She was truly blessed to know and work with a lot of their staff.

Peg is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Lewis Poupard; son, Greg Poupard; daughter, Denise (Mark) Drake; grandchildren, Ashley (Jeff) Davidson, Lindsey (Joe) Taormina, Chris (Lydia) Drake, Pat (Bridget) Drake, Katie Drake, great-grandchildren, Vera, Graham, Roman, Brayden, Jessa, Collete, Lewis, and Quin.

Family and Friends may visit from 5 pm to 8 pm, Monday, Feb 16th at Bacarella Funeral Home. Peg will lie in state Tuesday at 10 am at St. Mary Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 am by Rev. Fr. Michael Anagbogu and assisted by Deacon Michael Stewart. Cremation will follow with burial at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery.
