Obituary

Margaret Ann Pillarelli, age 94, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Aspen Grove, Lambertville.
Margaret was born December 11, 1930 in Maybee, she was the daughter of Stephen and Marcella (Bauerle) Schneider. She married the great love of her life John B. Pillarelli October 1, 1949 at St. Michael Church, theirs was a love affair for the ages. They celebrated their 69th anniversary before he passed away January 20, 2019, he always referred to her as "his Margaret". Margaret and John loved to dance and would go to the Centennial Terrance in Sylvania and whenever they went to a wedding they would never leave the dance floor.
She was an active member of St. Michael Church, where she served on the altar society and as a eucharistic minister, delivering the eucharistic to the sick and homebound. Margaret was a 1948 graduate of Monroe High School.
Margaret's first job was at Dean Bakery, she then worked at River Raisin Paper. Margaret then spent 25 years working at Hollywood Elementary School as the secretary to the principal.
She enjoyed bowling and gardening. Margaret also liked to sew, knit and crochet, making everything from clothing to prayer shawls. She was also known by all that knew her for the delicious pies. She was known as the euchre card shark at Aspen Grove by the fellow residents. Margaret's greatest priority was her husband and family and she loved the time she spent with them.
Margaret is survived by her three children, Katherine A. (Johnie Rains) Volpi of Toledo, Teresa M (Tom) Graham of Monroe and John J. (Donna Navarre) Pillarelli of Monroe; a sister, Alice (Roland Jr.) Hoffman of Monroe; six grandchildren, Anthony (Melissa) Volpi, Jr., Matthew R. Volpi, Ryan W. Pillarelli, Carly K. (Joe) Tsekhanosky, Stephen T. Graham, Mallory M. Graham; five great grandchildren; Kennedy Volpi, Blaise Volpi, Antonino Volpi, Grace Bornhurst, Isabelle Tsekhanosky.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Alvin Schneider.
Visitation will be Monday, January 27, 2025 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. She will lie instate at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Church with a Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m. Rev. Al Pillarelli, Margaret's nephew, will officiate. Private interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gabby's Grief Center, St. Michael Church or Heartland Hospice of Monroe.
