Marcus Paul Gish, age 62, of Monroe, MI passed away peacefully and unexpectedly in his home on Sunday, February 22, 2009. Mark was born February 19, 1947 in Fancy Farm, KY the son of the late Earl W. and Wanda M. (Ballard) Gish. The family moved to this area when Mark was a child. Mark grew up in Carleton and was a graduate of Airport High School. Mark served his country in the US Air Force from 1964 to 1966 as an airplane mechanic. On March 24, 1967 Mark married his beloved wife the former Zelberta Jean Daniels in Monroe. Mark worked as an Optician for Dr. Khan in Monroe and at Henry Ford Hospital in Dearborn. Mark enjoyed collecting trains, hunting, fishing, boating, and spending time at his cabin and his sons cabin in northern Michigan. He also enjoyed traveling to Spring Hill, FL where he spent time with his best friend Lee. Most of all Mark enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren whom he loved sharing stories with. One of Mark's favorite things to do was to cook dinner on Sunday's for his entire family. Mark is survived by his beloved wife of almost 42 years Zelberta Jean, 4 loving children; Marcus Paul (Holly Marchese) Gish Jr. of Monroe, Adam H. (Zonnie) Gish of Newport, Barb Jean Gish of Monroe and Kathy S. Gish at home, 10 cherished grandchildren; Ashlee, Thomas, Valerie, Megan, Jacob, Aaron, Marcus Paul III, Alexa, Mackynzie, and Cody, 3 treasured great grandchildren; Alivia, Damian, and Lucas, 1 brother; Danny (Laura) Gish of Brownstown, MI and 2 sisters; Sheila (Jim) Youngheim of Rockwood, MI and Karen Smith of Monroe. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 1-8 PM and Friday, February 27, 2009 from 12-1 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe, where funeral services celebrating Mark's life will begin at 1:00 PM. Pastor Louie L. Barnett of Eagles Nest Community Church will officiate. Following the funeral service the VFW Post 1138 will conduct military honors.
