Marcus Lowell Cisco, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, educator and coach, passed away on September 24, 2026, at the age of 90.

Marcus was born and raised in Morenci, Michigan, graduating from Morenci High School in 1954. A gifted four-sport athlete, he earned 16 varsity letters in football, basketball, baseball and track. “The Morenci Express” made Michigan football history as the first football player in the state to be named an Associated Press All-State three times.

Marcus went to Michigan State University and was a member of a Rose Bowl team before finishing his career at the University of Toledo. He began his career in education teaching at Britton Macon Schools before joining Jefferson High School in 1961, where he taught until 1986.

He later served as Recreation Director and Athletic Director and also served as the Recreation Director for Frenchtown Township.

Athletics was one of the great passions of Marcus's life, spending 47 years as the Head Football Coach and over 40 years as the Head Track Coach. His teams earned numerous conference, district and regional championships, made nine playoff appearances and won a state title in 1994.

Marcus received numerous Coach of the Year honors and was inducted into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 1989 and the Jefferson High School Hall of Fame in 2008. To generations of young athletes, he was simply and proudly known as Coach Cisco.

As much as Marcus loved football, his family was always his greatest love. He and his wife, Donna, were married on February 13, 1970, and shared more than 56 years together. He deeply loved Donna, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took great joy in attending their sporting events and cheering them on from the stands. Marcus also enjoyed golfing, fishing, spending time in Florida and, most of all, being surrounded by the people he loved.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Private burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery Morenci, MI.
