Maggie Louise Ray, 70, of Monroe, passed away at the Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital on Friday, July 17, 2015. She has been in poor health for a year and seriously ill for 6 months.
She was born August 31, 1944 in Corbin, KY to Ernest Wayne and Dovie (Dye) Ray. She was a 1962 graduate of Corbin High School. Shortly after high school she moved to California where she met, and married, Paul Thomas Diggs in 1964. She moved to Monroe in 1984 from California.
She had attended the University of Louisville and Monroe County Community College, and enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Paul Dwayne (Rachel) Diggs of Taylor, and Shannon Nicole (Neil) Russeau of Monroe; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 14 brothers and sisters, Clark, Johnny, Jerry, Ernest (Papoose), Joyce, Ellen (Myrtle), Lisa, Priscilla, Ronnie, Gary, Sandy, J.D., Eric, and Patricia.
Sadly, her parents, a sister, Barbara, and brother, David, preceded her in death.
Friends are invited to call at the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Road, on Wednesday, July 22, from 1-8 PM. Funeral services to celebrate her life will take place at the funeral home on Thursday at 1 PM. Rev. B.J. McDaniel, pastor of Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church will officiate.
Memorial gifts in her name may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
