Madge L. Beeler, age 94, was born in Liberty Hill, Tennessee on October 2, 1915 to Floyd and Fannie (Hurst) Beeler, one of eight children, four boys and four girls, She attended school in Liberty Hill and married Lillard Beeler on November 15, 1930 in Union County, Tennessee. Madge passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2010.
Friends may pay their respects at the Bacarella Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-8 PM and Thursday from 1-8 PM. On Friday, May 28, 2010 Madge will lie in state at North Monroe Street Church of God from 10:00 AM until funeral services celebrating her life at 11:00 AM. Her grandson the Rev. Michael Beeler will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Her husband came to Monroe to look for work and a place to live. Madge followed him on the train with three small children, around 1937. She was a housewife and a very special Mother raising nine children, six boys and three girls.
She was the oldest living member of the North Monroe Street Church of God Mountain Assembly, being a member since 1942. She was very faithful to her church, teaching Sunday School for many years, working with the Willing Workers to raise money for the church and singing in the choir. She especially loved Tuesday Night Prayer Meeting and always attended church when her health permitted.
She was a wonderful cook and loved to quilt, making one for each of her children to remember her by. She loved her family deeply and that love was returned by all of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Madge had many friends and she would send cards and call them faithfully when they were sick.
She was preceded in death and now reunited with her husband, her parents, one daughter Peggy Jones, two sons Glen Sr. and James Beeler, grandson Jason David Beeler, daughter-in-law Charon Beeler, two sisters Opal (Leonard) White and Helen (Milt) Haynes, three brothers Edward (Trula) Beeler, Leon (Ruby) Beeler and James (Lilly) Beeler.
She is survived by two daughters Agnes Brewer and Ruby Braden of Monroe, four sons Lillard Jr. (Carol) Beeler and Ronald (Betty) Beeler of Monroe, Donald (Linda) Beeler of Flat Rock and David (Jean) Beeler of Lupton, MI, son-in-law Lloyd Jones of Erie, one sister Alline Rose of Maynardville, Tennessee and one brother Coy (Frances) Beeler of Tacoa, Georgia. Also surviving are twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
