Lynda Ann Castiglione, 65 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, in Toledo, Ohio.
Born December 28, 1959 in Toledo, Lynda was the daughter of the late Martin Francis and Laura R. (Heck) Urban. Lynda attended Monroe Public Schools and was a 1978 graduate of Monroe High School where she was on student council and played volleyball. She served on the Class of 1978 reunion committee.
On September 25, 1976, Lynda married her beloved husband Vincent D. Castiglione at Trinity Lutheran Church in Monroe.
Lynda began working for Monroe Public Schools while in high school. She began her career in the Administration Department of Monroe Public Schools as a secretary for the Human Resources Department and retired as the personal secretary to the Superintendent of Monroe Public Schools after 32 years of service. Lynda was more than just a secretary, she was instrumental in coordinating and volunteering for many fundraising efforts, including, but not limited to, the Special Olympics, spaghetti dinners, and pancake breakfasts. After retirement, Lynda went back to work as a part-time secretary for the Frenchtown Township Supervisor. Lynda was also a wonderful homemaker and loved caring for her family. She was an excellent cook, however, baking was not her strong suit. She would often recreate family recipes for everyone to enjoy.
Lynda was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, summer trips to the cottage at Posey Lake, and teaching her family how to swim and waterski. Lynda always made sure her hair was done, her makeup perfect, nails manicured, dressed to the nines with plenty of bling, and her freezer was full of ice cream treats for the kids. Most of all Lynda enjoyed time spent with her family.
Lynda is survived by her belove husband of 48 years Vince, two loving children: Vincent M. (Kelly) Castiglione of Marietta, GA, and Nicole L. (Josh) Fielding of Sylvania, OH, eight cherished grandchildren: Adrianna, Vincent, Chandler, Hudson, Jordan, Kennedy, Kieragan, and Annisten, two siblings: Greg (Lisa) Urban and Lisa (Tim) McCoy, her mother-in-law, Pat Castiglione, her step father, Leon Burchette, and her fur babies: Louie and Sami.
In addition to her parents, Lynda was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Vincent J. Castiglione.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025 from 2-8 pm at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161. On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, she will lie in state at Grace Lutheran Church, 630 North Monroe St., Monroe, Michigan, 48162, beginning at 10:00 am, where funeral services celebrating Lynda's life will begin at 11:00 am. Rev. Mark Witte, pastor of the church, will officiate.
