Obituary

Luella Pearl (Cox) Ehrmann, age 86 of Monroe, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, November 4, 2024 surrounded by her family that loved her so very much.
Luella was born January 30, 1938 in Ann Arbor, MI. She was the eldest of two children born to Ike and Edith Cox, being the big sister to brother David until his passing in 2003.
Luella graduated from Monroe high School in 1956. She spent many years loving her work in the secretarial field until she retired from Conlin Travel in 1984. However, Luella's favorite title was "Mom" to her son Gregory, and later "GG" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Luella married the love of her life, the late Jon Ehrmann, on July 7, 1984. Until his passing in 2010, Luella and Jon enjoyed traveling all over, including their condo in Florida, Las Vegas, South Haven, MI with Fred and Linda, and Hawaii with Dave and Judy. Luella and Jon were season ticket holders for University of Michigan Football for many years, and she loved watching "The Victors" play! They enjoyed many years together at their lake house in Dexter, MI, boating, watching the sailboats, and visiting Zukey Lake Tavern. After Jon's passing, Luella moved back to Monroe and spent many years enjoying time with family, including the Friday night dinners with her brother-in-law Paul, and late sister-in-law Juanita, and their families.
Luella loved all the holidays, especially Christmas. She would begin planning for it in September each year, making sure to let everyone know she knew it was time to start thinking about it. Additionally, she would like to remind her niece Amy Jo it was her turn to host this year.
Luella was so proud of the family she had, and her quick wit and recipes will live in all of them.
Luella is survived by her son, Gregory (Joan) Hicks (to whom she passed her undying love for Maize and Blue), granddaughters, Cheynea Hicks, Dayna (Kevin) Cox, Stacy Wigman, Jenna (Brandon) Scott; 9 great-grandchildren; nieces: Amy (Brian) Taylor, Lisa (Jose) Carabello, Tess and Jody, Christy (Rick) Martin, Debbie Keck; nephew, Jeff (Rhonda) Hicks; brother-in-law, Paul Hicks; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Linda Ehrmann; her best girlfriends, Karen, Jill and Jan; and many other dear family and friends.
Sadly, Luella is preceded in death by her husband Jon; parents, Ike and Edith Cox; brother, David Cox; and sisters-in-law, Judy Cox and Juanita Hicks.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hampton Manor of Dundee for the excellent care they gave Luella the past two years.
Cremation has been arranged through Bacarella Funeral Home. A memorial service will be planned at a later date when her ashes will be laid to rest with her late husband Jon at Roselawn Memorial Park. At that time, in lieu of flowers, please take yourself to Larson's for a cheeseburger and a Bloody Mary… they were her favorite.
