Lucina "Lu" B. White, age 90 of Monroe, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022 at the IHM Senior Living Community.
Born October 15, 1932 in Oklahoma City, OK, Lu was the daughter of Grant and Marie (Green) Bradford. She graduated from Guthrie High School in Guthrie, OK in 1950.
Lu met and married George A. White of Monroe while he was stationed in Oklahoma. Before moving to Monroe in 1956, Lu was employed at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, OK. Together they raised five children.
In Monroe, Lu was employed as an Executive Secretary by Monroe Auto Equipment/Tenneco and Detroit Edison at the Fermi Nuclear Plant, and later at Norman Towers.
Lu was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and its choir, Mercy Memorial Hospital Guild, and was actively involved with the Monroe Community Players for several years where she wore many hats. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, and traveling.
Lu is survived by three daughters, Robin (Mike) McCarthy of Dayton, OH, LuAnn (Dean) Clevenger of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Gloria (Dan) Jukuri of Monroe; daughter-in-law, Cindy Estrada of Whitmore Lake, MI; son-in-law, Jerry Evans of Colorado Springs, CO; 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Lu was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Kathy Evans; son, Frank White; and great-granddaughter, Teagan Araiza.
Family and friends may visit from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20th at Bacarella Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Mac McManus of Grace Emmanuel Church in Port St. Lucie, FL will officiate followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park.
