Obituary

Lucille Williams, age 99 of Monroe, MI, passed away Monday, June 11, 2007 at 12:50 PM in Tendercare of Monroe where she had been for 3 weeks. Lucille had been in poor health for several years. Lucille was born February 24, 1908 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Sydney and Polly Blackwell. Lucille married Moses Williams in Detroit, MI. Sadly he preceded her in death. In 1937 Lucille moved to Monroe and was employed as a domestic for Dr. McMillen for 21 years. Lucille was a member of Carey Chapel A.M.E. Church in Monroe. Lucille was very dedicated to her church and was a recipient of the churches Missionary Spirit and Loyalty Award. Carey Chapel also established the Lucille Williams Missionary Society in her honor. Lucille enjoyed embroidery, sewing and collecting dolls. Lucille is survived by her great niece whom she raised and made her home with Andrea Lee Page and her great nephew Jerry C. (Veda F.) Page of Oklahoma City OK. In addition to her parents and spouse Lucille was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters. Lucille will lie instate on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Carey Chapel A.M.E. Church in Monroe from 11:00 AM until funeral services celebrating her life at 12 noon. The Rev. Jessie Mae Locke pastor of the church will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be sent given to Carey Chapel A.M.E. Church. Bacarella Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements.
