Louise Marie
Chapin
May 4, 1929 — Oct 19, 2026
Monroe
Louise Marie Chapin, age 97, of Monroe, passed away Monday, October 19, 2026 at Medilodge of Monroe.
Louise was born May 4, 1929 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the eldest daughter of Haywood Franklin and Clara (Kimbrough) Holt. In 1947 she married Rev. Cecil E. Chapin, who preceded her in death in 2003. She served at his side in Ministry at the Benton Harbor, MI Church of God where they built 7 houses and a Church. They moved to River Rouge, MI in 1962 where they Pastored the Church of God. In 1964 they built the Ecorse, MI Church of God. They moved to Brampton, Ontario, Canada in 1966 for Cecil to serve as Overseer for the Church of God Canada, where they built another house that today serves as the Church of God Eastern Canada Regional Executive Offices. Around 1973 they retired from ministry and moved to Wimauma, Florida where they built a warehouse and 2 more homes and opened Chapin Reality. Savvy and tireless, she was a successful real estate broker and business owner for more than 35 years.
Always smiling and possessing a remarkably gentle spirit, Louise loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, a devotion she beautifully expressed through the Flagging Ministry and Praise Dancing at Beit Tehila Church in Brandon, Florida, where she worshiped before moving to Monroe in 2017. She attended Monroe Missionary Baptist Church and looked forward to Tuesdays to attend the Ladies Craft Day. Blessed with a curious mind and a lifelong love of learning, she surrounded herself with books where she would “spit on her fingers” to turn the pages. She also enjoyed sewing and crafts, making complete outfits from head to toe – making the hat, dress, covering shoes and don’t forget the purse, all to match, always keeping a project in the works, and delighted in spending time outdoors – gardening, feeding the squirrels and birds and the occasional gator in Florida, collecting treasures, the cookie oven, Cooper the cat, and most of all, her family. Throughout the years she could be heard singing “It Is Well With My Soul”.
She is survived by her daughter, Dona A. (Gary E.) Ball of Monroe; three grandsons, Lance (Lynn) Ball of North Port, Florida, Derek (Nichole) Ball of Monroe and Kevin (Joy) Ball of Toledo, Ohio; five great grandchildren, MaKayla, Christian, Elijah (Jenna), Josiah and Gabriel and a great-great grandson, Daniel. She is preceded in death by her parents; four siblings (2 sets of twins), Leon and Vivian, Virgil and Virginia.
In accordance with her wishes, all services are private. Bacarella Funeral Home, Monroe, MI is assisting the family with arrangements.
