Loretta S. VanStone, age 99, of Monroe, passed away Friday, August 1, 2025 at Fountain View of Monroe.
Loretta was born February 9, 1926 in Carleton, she was the daughter of Michael and Anna (Satawa) Dudek. She married Walter VanStone; sadly he preceded her in death February 16, 1984.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. She worked at Willow Run Bomber Plant factory during World War II and was a nurse at Mercy Hospital, she was proud to have worked there for the nuns when they ran it, before raising her family.
Loretta had a giving heart and wanted to give back to others by volunteering her time and talents. For many years she volunteered with the Knights of Columbus Ladies' Auxiliary and at Mercy Memorial Hospital. She was also a foster mother; she loved every child she cared for.
She is survived by her children Joseph VanStone and Lisa VanStone both of Monroe; siblings, Anna Mae Brittain, Joseph (Shirley) Dudek and Frank (Karen) Dudek all of Carleton; five grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Salomae Dudek, Veronica Guczwa, Caroline Murawski, Eugene Dudek, Rita Swiontoniwski, Teresa Baum, Aloysius Dudek, Michael Dudek and Sr. Terese Michael Dudek.
Visitation will be held from 2 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, where the Rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. She will lie instate at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Church with Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m. Her nephew, Fr. John Dudek will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.
