Obituary

Lloyd Haynes, 85 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, MI passed away Monday, June 14, 2010 at Tendercare of Monroe. Lloyd had been in declining health for 6 months.
Lloyd was born October 3, 1924 in Monroe, MI the son of the late Joseph A. and Melissie (Garrett) Haynes. Lloyd attended Monroe Public Schools and was a 1942 graduate of Monroe High School. Lloyd furthered his education by attending schools through several real estate and insurance companies in Chicago, Boston and Detroit. Lloyd was a licensed real estate broker as well as a licensed insurance agent in Michigan.
On July 1, 1950 at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church in Monroe Lloyd married the former Rita A. Steger. Sadly, she passed away on June 23, 1985.  On June 27, 2002 Lloyd married his beloved wife the former Rhonda Hagan in Toledo, OH.
In 1963 Lloyd started Haynes Senior Insurance Company in Monroe, where he was an associate of Mutual of Omaha and John Hancock Insurance Companies. Lloyd also served as manager of the companies Ann Arbor and Monroe offices. In 1972 Lloyd started Lloyd Haynes Realty in Monroe where he served as the owner and broker. Lloyd also worked at Consolidated for 25 years. At one time Lloyd was approved and sanctioned to sell insurance to the Monroe County Court House and the AFLCIO and its members and employees.
Lloyd was a member of St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church and was active at one time in church development. He was a former member and past president of the Monroe Optimist Club, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1266 in Monroe. Lloyd enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with family.
Lloyd is survived by his beloved wife Rhonda, 4 loving children; Joseph F. (Sheila) Haynes, Alan L. (Vonnie) Haynes both of Monroe, Debra (Robert) Roberts of Crestwood, KY, Pamela (Thomas) Byrne of Canton, MI, 2 Step Sons; Adam Deaton of Sylvania, OH and Aaron Deaton of Flat Rock, 2 brothers; Curtis and Harvey Haynes both of Monroe, 3 sisters; Amy Ruth Sickles of Gainesville, FL, Ruby (Ronald) Pope and Eunice Self both of Monroe, 13 cherished grandchildren, and 10 treasured great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and first wife Rita, Lloyd was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Ray and James.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11 AM to 9 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe where a service will be held at 7 PM that evening. On Friday, June 18, 2010 he will lie in state at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church from 9:30 AM until Mass of the Resurrection celebrating his life at 10:30 AM. Fr. Marc Gawronski, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
