Linzie Hunt, 83 years, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Lake Park Nursing Facility in Sylvania, OH.
Linzie was born April 6, 1927 in Estill, KY the son of the late John and Norcie (Gibson) Hunt. Linzie moved to Monroe in 1951. In December of 1952 Linzie married his beloved wife the former Flossie Conley in Monroe. Sadly, she preceded him in death on November 25, 1988.
Linzie served his country in the US Navy during WWII and in the US Army during the Korean War. For his heroism he received the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal.
Linzie was employed by Ford Motor Company in Monroe for 7 years. He then went to work for the Monsanto Corporation in Wyandotte, MI where he worked for 25 years until his retirement in 1985.
Linzie was a hard working man who enjoyed time with his family. Linzie is survived by 3 loving step children; Charles R. (Ruth) McPeek, Iona (Jim) Riggs, and Joan C. Hudkins all of Monroe, a sister Dottie Hayes of Columbus, OH, 10 cherished step grandchildren, 19 cherished great grandchildren and 4 treasured great great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents Linzie was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Virgil and Lloyd Hunt and 1 sister; Alka Scott.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe, where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Von Loop will officiate. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park where the VFW Post 1138 will conduct military honors. Memorials are suggested to Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe.
