Obituary

Linda M. Ravary, 75 years, of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
Born May 12, 1949 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Linda was the daughter of the late William and Laverne (Olsen) Dent. She attended school in La Crosse and was a 1967 graduate of Central High School.
Linda served her country honorably and proudly as a Nurse in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, serving at Valley Forge Military Hospital. While caring for the wounded returning from Vietnam, one of her patients caught her eye. One could say it was love at first sight. She and Jerry kept in touch by writing letters to each other after returning home. He wasn't writing to her enough and she sent him an angry letter. That prompted Jerry to drive across multiple states to marry her. On March 30, 1972 Linda M. (Dent) married the love of her life and the man she would continue to care for, for the next 52 years, Gerald L. Ravary in Caledonia, Minnesota.
Linda was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening, collecting ornamental crystals and rocks. She was also an excellent artist and enjoyed drawing. Most of all Linda enjoyed time spent with family.
Linda is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Jerry, three loving children: Jody D. (Micki) Ravary of Bloomington IL, Jill A. (Lance) Mullins of Brownstown, MI, and Jessica L. (Sean) O'Sullivan of Monroe, MI and seven cherished grandchildren: Matt, Ryan, Autumn, Brianna, Zachary, Zoie, and Delaney, a treasured great granddaughter, Kylie, and three siblings: William Dent, Carol Calhoun of Douglas, AZ, and Patricia VanDyke of La Crosse, WI.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by two grandsons: Bradley and Tyler.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 1138, Monroe. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
