Linda Kaye Cawood, 78 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Saint Therese IHM Senior Living in Monroe.
Born July 21, 1947, in Monroe, Linda was the daughter of the late Paul N. and Pauline E. (Oak) Porter. Linda attended Monroe Public Schools and was a 1965 graduate of Monroe High School.
On August 12, 1969, Linda married her beloved husband, Charles Wayne Cawood, in Folkston, GA. Sadly, Wayne preceded her in death on May 12, 2001, after 31 years of marriage.
Linda was a wonderful homemaker and loved caring for her family. She did, however, work outside the home. Her first job was as a legal secretary for George Paxson and Charlie Williamson. On April 11, 1986, Linda received her real estate license and went to work for Foster Realtors in Monroe. After short stints with several other real estate companies Linda went to work for Coldwell Banker Haynes Real Estate in Monroe, from which she retired in 2021.
Linda was a longtime and former member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church and was currently a member of Heritage Baptist Church. She enjoyed vegetable gardening and more than anything, spending time with her family.
Linda is survived by three children: Tammy L. (Billy) Berry of Monroe, Dr. Matthew P. (Virginia) Cawood of Monroe and Jeffery W. (Chelsea) Cawood of Westland and three cherished grandchildren: Maddy, Carson, and Ashton Cawood.
In addition to her husband and parents, Linda was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Prudence and John Tredago.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161, beginning at 11:00 am where funeral services celebrating Linda's life will be held that afternoon at 2:00 pm. Rev. Roy Southerland will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Humane Society of Monroe County.
