Obituary

Leonard Alfred Busenbark, age 78 of Monroe, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Born February 13, 1942, he was the son of the late Alfred and Ada (Weber) Busenbark. Leonard was a 1961 Monroe High School Graduate. On February 1, 1964 he married the love of his life, Janice M. Beamish at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Carleton. Leonard was a forklift operator at AP Parts in Toledo, OH for 32 years before retiring in 1995.
Leonard was a simple man who enjoyed spending his free time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending wild game dinners. He owned a 40-acre farm and had a passion for training work horses, which he entered into pulling contests at Monroe County fair.
To cherish his memory, Leonard leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Janice; four children: Thomas Busenbark of Carleton, James (Rebecca) Busenbark of Monroe, Richard (Jennifer) Busenbark of Whittaker, MI and John Busenbark of Elmira, MI; one sister, Mary West of Monroe; eight grandchildren: Christopher (Mandy), Brandy, Nicole, DJ, Trevor, Michael, Hunter, and Austin; nine great-grandchildren: Bradley, Parker, Violet, Vivian, Charlie, Aaron, Braden, Blake, and Rose.
In addition to his parents, Leonard is preceded in death by two brothers, William J. Busenbark and Dennis G. Busenbark; and daughter-in-law Kimberly Busenbark.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 15, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home 1201 South Telegraph Road, Monroe, MI 48161. He will lie in state at Divine Grace Parish of Carleton at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2021, where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Private entombment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Leonard's memory are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or the American Cancer Society- Monroe County.
