L.C. Nisley, age 81 of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital due to complications of COVID.
Born June 21, 1942 in Knox County, TN, L.C. was the son of the late Cecil and Alice (Helton) Nisley. He graduated from Carter High School in 1960 and moved to Monroe, MI. While in high school, he met Rose Anne Pratt and the two were wed on November 19, 1963 in Knoxville, TN.
L.C. was employed by General Motors Hydramatic/Powertrain Plant in Toledo for 35 years before retiring in 1995. A member of U.A.W. Local 14, he served as a Union Rep and Administrator of Divisional Joint Activities.
L.C. was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed all kinds of hunting and fishing activities and excursions. He also enjoyed playing golf. He was a member of the Thursday Night Golf League at Green Meadows and once had a Hole-In-One at the former River Raisin Golf Course.
L.C. is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Rose Anne; two sons, Brian (Kelli Vandergriff) Nisley of Monroe and Eric (Loree) Nisley of Carleton; two siblings, Helen Reed of New Orleans, LA and Cecil (Joann) Nisley of Monroe; two grandchildren, Matthew (Julia) Nisley and Justin Williams; and three great-grandchildren, Liam Nisley, Sophia Rose Nisley, and Cami Perna.
In addition to his parents, L.C. was preceded in death by an infant son, Todd; four sisters, Anna Webster, Frances Mellon, Wanda Gavette, and Carol Williams.
Family and friends may visit from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1st at Bacarella Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2nd. Long-time friend, Rev. Joe Bryant, pastor of Union Street Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate, followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park.
