Lawrence Rose, 85 years, of Carleton, MI passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2009 in his home. Lawrence was born June 18, 1923 in Corbin, KY the son of the late Arthur and Linva Rose. Lawrence proudly served his country during WWII in the US Army serving from May 5, 1944 until May 29, 1946 for his heroism he received the following; EAME Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, Victory Medal and the WWII Occupation Medal. On January 16, 1945 in Williamsburg, KY Lawrence married his beloved wife the former Polly Marie Gross. Sadly she preceded him in death on September 3, 2008. In January of 1949 the couple moved to Monroe to raise their family. Lawrence was employed as a Job Setter for Chrysler's Trenton Engine Plant for 31½ years from which he retired in May of 1986. Lawrence was a member of Bible Fellowship Church in Monroe and enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, playing checkers, shooting pool and fishing. Most of all Lawrence enjoyed his family. Lawrence is survived by 3 loving children; Richard (Vickie) Rose and Larry (Lori) Rose of Monroe and Charlene (Daniel) McLaughlin Jr. of Carleton, 7 cherished grandsons, whom will be pall bearers; Erin, Eric, Matt, and Gregory Rose, Danny III, Michael and Thomas McLaughlin, 3 cherished great grandchildren; Ashlyn, Dylan and Ty Rose, 1 brother; Arnold (Margie) Rose of Monroe, and 4 sisters; Irene Hinkle of Corbin, KY Myrtle Prewitt of Monroe, Ivylue Harris of Newport and Marie (Luther) Prewitt of Lincoln Park, MI. In addition to his wife of 63 years and his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by a son Charlie Rose a daughter Kathy Rose and a brother Onzie Rose. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe, where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Eugene White will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Bible Fellowship Church.
