Obituary

Lawrence J. Nadeau, 87 years, of Hillsdale, Michigan, formerly of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at the Gardens of Carleton in Carleton, Michigan.
Born March 6, 1937 in Monroe, Larry was the son of the late Willis J. and Ethel Rose (Livernois) Nadeau. Larry was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe and attended St. Joseph Elementary School. He was a 1956 graduate of Monroe Catholic Central High School. Larry excelled at football at both schools.
Larry served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Army. He served from August 10, 1960 until his honorable discharge July 23, 1962.
On February 5, 1966, Larry married his beloved wife, the former Betty J. Jacobs, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Monroe. Sadly, she preceded him in death on May 4, 2007 after 41 years of marriage.
Larry worked for Ford Motor Company at the Monroe plant for 30 years, from which he retired in 1988.
Shortly after retirement Larry and Betty moved to Hillsdale where he was an active member at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 514 in Ida, MI. Larry enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing Euchre, hunting and spending time at his cabin in northern Michigan. Most of all Larry enjoyed time spent with family.
Larry is survived by two loving sons: James R. Nadeau of Oklahoma, and Robert L. (Rose) Nadeau of Monroe, two loving stepchildren: Larry G. Stahl and Penny L. (William) Weller both of Monroe, three siblings: Edward A. (Nancy) Nadeau of Monroe, Daniel B. (Cindy) Nadeau of Cadillac, and Mary Staelgraeve of Reedley, CA, 14 cherished grandchildren, 20 treasured great grandchildren, and 9 adored great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife Betty, Larry was preceded in death by two brothers: Fred and Willis, a stepdaughter in law, Norma Stahl, and a brother-in-law, Ron Staelgraeve.
In keeping with Larry's wishes cremation has been held. On Wednesday, January 8, 2025 his cremated remains will lie in state at St. Mary Catholic Church in Monroe beginning at 9:30 am where Mass of the Resurrection celebrating Larry's life will begin at 10:30 am. Private interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. The VFW Post 1138 will conduct military honors at the funeral luncheon.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church Family Center in Hillsdale or to a charity of the donor's choice.
