Obituary

Lawrence Carl “Larry” Mack, age 73, of Monroe, passed away Monday, September 14, 2026.

Larry was born September 27, 1952 in Monroe, he was the son of Carl and Helen (Bashaw) Mack. He married Diane M. Lieto September 2, 1972, she preceded him in death January 24, 2015.

He was a 1970 graduate of Monroe High School and had attended Baker College.

At 18 years old, Larry began working for CSX Transportation as a yard foreman, he held that position until his retirement in 2012.

He is a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and had previously been a member of St. Joseph Church, Monroe until it’s closing. He was also a member of Exeter Fire Department, Monroe County Fair Board and the Brotherhood Maintenance of Way.

Larry always made sure that his home, yard and vehicles were in pristine condition. He could be found washing his vehicles, mowing the grass multiple times a week. He also enjoyed farming. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and friends.

He is survived by his two children, Kim (Mike) Salenbien and Eric (Amy) Mack; three grandchildren, Cole Salenbien (fiancé Brynn Trouten), Zack Salenbien (Kalei Hoppert) and Kaleigh Mack. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Charles Mack and sister, Alma Czarnik.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2026 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe where a firefighter walk through will take place at 4 p.m. He will lie instate Monday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m. Rev. David Burgard will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Jospeh Cemetery, Monroe.

Memorial contribution in Larry’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
