Obituary

Lawrence D. Imo, 69 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, returned to the Lord on Saturday, October 1, 2022. He died peacefully at home with his beloved wife Angela at his side following a brave three-year battle with cancer. He remained positive until the end.
Born June 21, 1953 in Monroe, Larry was the son of the late Lawrence J. "Pete" and Mary L. (Cousino) Imo. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church where he also attended elementary school and later served as Athletic Director. He was a 1971 graduate of Monroe Catholic Central, where he played football. He attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette. Larry worked in the auto industry in various capacities until his retirement in 2017. On August 31, 2019 Larry married the love of his life, the former Angela A. Skinner, in Monroe.
Larry was a music enthusiast and had a large vinyl collection. His knowledge of Rock and Roll was encyclopedic. He was an avid Euchre player but was known to occasionally trump his partner's ace. His smile and his laugh were infectious. It was impossible to be near him and not have a good time. Larry was a bright light in the world, and though he is gone, his light reflects still in those who love him.
Larry also loved watching all types of sports including: University of Michigan football, the Detroit Lions (despite decades of disappointment), Red Wings, and Tigers. He enjoyed golf, karaoke, and playing the lottery. He and Angela spent their free time traveling, especially spending time near the water on a sandy beach. Most of all Larry loved spending time with family and friends.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Angela; his cherished daughter, Taylor L. (Reid) Connolly of Monroe; two treasured grandchildren, Madison and Harper; his caring mother Mary L. Slavik of Monroe; five sisters, Linda (Dave) Turner of Columbus, GA, Patricia "Poppy" (Bill) Toth of Maumee, OH, Deborah Imo of Monroe, Denise (Randy) Tevepaugh of Chagrin Falls, OH, and Wendy (Tim) Crouch of Rockford, IL; 17 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Corinne Skinner of Monroe; his sister-in-law, Regina (Timothy) Skinner-Lusch of Lakewood, OH; one of many friends, Jimmy Duris, Best Man at his wedding; and his fur baby Harry David.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, his stepfather Al Slavik, and a niece Katie E. Turner.
In keeping with Larry's wishes cremation has been held. On Saturday, October 15,2022 memorial visitation will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church beginning at 10:30 am followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 12:00 noon. Fr.
