Lawrence R. Arseneau, 46 years, of Monroe, MI passed away Friday, May 8, 2009 in the home of his sister surrounded by his loving family. Larry had been in declining health for a short time. Larry was born March 4, 1963 in St. Ignace, MI the son of Clayton and Connie M. (Lapine) Arseneau. Larry was a 1981 graduate of Newberry High School in Tahquamenon Falls, MI. After graduation Larry enlisted in the US Air Force where he proudly served our country from September of 1981 to December of 1992. Larry achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and received the Outstanding Unit Award Ribbon, National Defense Service Ribbon and the Southwest Asia Service Medal. He was also involved in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Larry had been employed as an Avionics Mechanic by Delta Airlines in Atlanta, GA since 1998. Larry loved the outdoors, especially golfing and snowmobiling in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Larry is survived by his beloved mother and step father Connie M. and Richard Smith of St. Ignace, MI, 3 brothers; Lester R Arseneau of Ringgold, GA, Lloyd R. Arseneau of Monroe, MI, Brian K. Smith of Kincheloe, MI, 2 sisters; Debra (Robert) St. Andrew of St. Ignace, MI and Denise J. (Jeffrey) Singleton of Monroe, MI, many cherished nieces and 1 cherished nephew. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 from 10:00 AM until funeral services celebrating his life at 1:00 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe. Fr. William Fisher pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe will officiate. The VFW Post 1138 will conduct military honors immediately following the funeral service.
