Obituary

Laura E. Ford, 92, of Monroe, died At 10 AM, Saturday, March 3, 2007 in the Alterra Sterling House of Monroe, where she had been a resident for the last year. She had been in poor health for 4 years and seriously ill for a month. She was born September 19, 1914 in Harrogate, TN to Joseph and Amanda (Lester) Rowlett. She graduated in 1934 from Middlesboro High School and married Roy E. Ford June 27, 1936 in Middlesboro. In 1942 they moved to Monroe from Kentucky. A homemaker, she attended Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, and enjoyed playing bingo. She leaves to mourn 4 sons, William F. (Wanda), Paul E. (Diane), Ronald E. (Paula), and Donald E. (Jean) all of Monroe, a daughter, Carolyn Sue (Anthony) Fletcher of LaSalle, and a son-in-law, Arthur LaPointe of Taylor, 12 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. Sadly, her husband, June 29, 1995, a daughter, Norma LaPointe, February 1991, 2 grandsons, Alexander and Matthew Fletcher, a great grandson, Dillon Henes, 3 brothers, Wylie, Gillis, and Murphy Rowlett, 5 sisters, Elizabeth Lambert, Pearl Fowler, Maude Fowler, Edna Idol, and Flora Hall, and a sister-in-law, Willa Mae Noah all preceded her in death. Friends may call at the Bacarella Funeral Home, Sunday 6-8 PM and Monday 12-8 PM, where services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, conducted by Rev. Von Loop of Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church, followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Memorial gifts in her name may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
