Larry C. Miller

Larry C. Miller, age 79, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 19, 2018 in is home, with his loving family at his side. Born July 8, 1938 in Monroe, Larry was the son of the late Lloyd E. and Audrey (Brock) Miller. He was a 1956 graduate of Airport High School where he played trumpet in the band. On January 10, 1959, Larry married his beloved wife, the former Annetta L. Smith, at Zion Lutheran Church in Monroe. Larry was the Vice President of First National Bank in Monroe where he worked for 40 years. He retired in January of 1997. A devout Christian, Larry was a lifelong and very active member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he served as Chairman of The Congregation, sat on the Board of Education, sang in the choir and sat on various other boards and committees. Larry was very civic minded and gave back to the community. He was a long time member of the Kiwanis Club, a volunteer fireman for Frenchtown Township, served as Past President of the Monroe Jaycee's, served as the first President of the Miss Monroe Pageant, served as the Interim Director of the United Way, he served on the Monroe Senior Citizen's board, served on the Port Authority Board, and was on the startup committee for both the Monroe County Community College and Memorial Hospital. His hobbies included; hunting, fishing, golf, camping and playing Euchre. Most of all Larry enjoyed time spent with family. Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years; Annetta, five loving children; Pamela F. Miller of Taylor, MI, Timothy C. Miller, Cheryl A. Miller, Debra L. Miller, and David (Kirstin) Miller all of Monroe, two cherished grandchildren; Christine and Daniel Miller, two treasured great grandsons; Blake Miller and Jeremy Miller - Nowitzke, and three siblings: Nancy K. McLaughlin of Carleton, Marcus L. Miller of Monroe, and James B. (Denise) Miller of Newport. Visitation will be held on Monday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161. On Tuesday, April 24, 2018 he will lie in state at Zion Lutheran Church from 10:00 AM until services celebrating his life at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Ross Ulrich, pastor of the church will officiate. Cremation will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church.
