Lance William Harris' Obituary
Lance William Harris, age 58, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, passed away Monday, May 19, 2025 after a period of declining health.
Born March 21, 1967, in Monroe, Lance was the son of the late Gerald J. "Shine" and Yvonne (Brewer) Harris. Lance was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary Catholic Church. He attended the Hall of the Divine Child and St. Mary Grade School. He was a 1985 graduate of Monroe High School, where he played football.
Lance enjoyed traveling, NASCAR, and was an unwavering fan of the University of Michigan Wolverine's, especially football.
Lance enjoyed the simple pleasures life offered him, and he always made time for family. He shared many years with Desilee Schaffenberg, the mother of his children. Though their paths eventually parted, they remained close friends and united for the love of their children.
Lance is survived by his three loving children: Valerie L. (Colin Kuriwchak) Harris, Gerald L. Harris, and Anthony J. Harris, all of Monroe, three siblings: Holly L. (John) Ziemke of Monroe, Kyle A. (Judy) Harris of Luna Pier, and Heidi M. (Eric) Linsenmeyer of Monroe, his companion Tammy, whom he made his home with, and several cherished nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Lance was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents: Allan and Peg (Raymo) Harris and Riley and Jennie Brewer.
Lance will be remembered for his legendary ability to embellish stories, and the deep love he had for his children. He was one of a kind and he will be dearly missed.
In keeping with Lance's wishes, cremation has been held.
On Thursday, May 29, 2025. Lance's family and friends will gather at St. Mary Catholic Church, 127 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan, 48162 beginning at 10:00 am followed by a Mass of the Resurrection celebrating his life at 11:00 am. Fr. Michael Anagbogu will be the celebrant.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the family to help with funeral expenses.
Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161, is assisting Lance's family with funeral arrangements.
