Kim E. Olson, age 61, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024 in her home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma Brain Cancer.
Kim was born March 15, 1963, she was the first born daughter of Thomas and Betty (Au) Younglove. She married her soulmate and best friend Joseph Olson on October 14, 1989 at St. Joseph Church Maybee, Michigan.
She was a 1981 graduate of St. Mary Academy. She worked at McDonald's on Telegraph Road while she attended college at Davis College in Toledo, Ohio and then continued her education at Siena Heights College in Adrian, Michigan. She received her Bachelor's Degree in May 1986 in Business, majoring in Computer Science. She worked for 16 ½ years at Michigan Gas Utilities as a Computer Programmer. She then obtained employment at Management Counsil of Ohio as a Systems Analyst from January 2004 until her medical retirement in March 2023, when she received her diagnosis of stage 4 Glioblastoma Brain Cancer.
Kim was very active at her church Divine Grace Parish, St. Joseph Church, Maybee. She served as a Eucharistic Minister, and member of the Christian Mothers Altar Society, where she served as secretary for 20 years. She also served as President of the Sacred Heart Guild for 27 years. Kim was a volunteer at Heartbeat of Monroe. She loved planning vacations with her husband and children. She enjoyed many hobbies including: rock painting, macrame, wreath making, knitting, crocheting, diamond art and baking for those that she loved.
She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Jospeh Olson; their three children, Ryan (Lisa) Olson, Jenna Olson and Julia Olson; one grandchild, Jackson Hamer – whom she always made a fresh batch of chocolate chips cookies for his visits, he was the light of her life. She is also survived by her beloved mother, Betty Younglove; siblings, Connie (Joseph) Steinman, Robyn (Jeff) Bonifacio, Terry (Sarah) Younglove; siblings through marriage, Mary (Tom) Loller, Betty (Bob) Zimmerman, Jim (Suzanne) Olson, Jerry Olson, Marcella (John) Bailey; many cherished nieces, nephews, friends and church family that meant the world to her.
She is happily united in heaven with her father Thomas Younglove, mother and father-in-law, Theresa M. and Clarence Joseph Olson and beloved nephew, Nicholas Bonifacio.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, where the Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. She will lie instate at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Divine Grace Parish, Maybee Campus (St. Joseph Church), with Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m. Rev. Michael Woroniewicz, pastor of the church, will officiate with Deacon Tracy Esper, deacon of the church, assisting. Private burial will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery, Maybee.
Memorial contributions in Kim's memory are suggested to Divine Grace Parish, Heartbeat of Monroe or to the American Cancer Society for Glioblastoma Research.
