Kenneth M. Wood, age 91 of Monroe, passed away Tuesday evening, February 28, 2023 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Born September 20, 1931 in Monroe, Ken was the son of the late Fred and Lois (Burchett) Wood. He served his country in the U.S. Army from March 2, 1953 until being honorably discharged on March 1, 1955. He was stationed in Greenland for a brief time during the Korean War. Four years later, Ken married June L. Campbell on June 27, 1959 in Monroe. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2020.
Ken was employed by General Motors at the Hydramatic Plant in Toledo for over 36 years as a Set-up Man, retiring on October 1, 1996. He was a member of United Auto Workers and enjoyed bowling, trips to the casino, and sitting outside enjoying nature and the sunshine. He was a hard worker who enjoyed the simple life.
Ken is survived by a daughter, Melissa (Kenneth) Adkins of Monroe; brother, Phillip Wood of Monroe; grandsons, Joshua (Patty) Adkins of Monroe and Jacob (Ashley) Adkins of Dundee; and four great-grandchildren: Gracelynn, Jacob, Archer, and Tucker.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ken was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
Family and friends may visit from 1 p.m. until time of funeral at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Mar. 6th at Bacarella Funeral Home. Rev. B.J. McDaniel will officiate. Private interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.
