Kathleen Ann Szabo (Kathy), age 76, of Monroe, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, June 28, 2024.
Kathy was born June 17, 1948 to her parents Lawrence (Jack) and Audrey (Quillin) Szabo of Maybee.
Kathy is survived by a daughter, Tina Hertzsch of Monroe; five siblings, Irene Notman, Rose Szabo, Cindy Alsobrooks, Larry Szabo, and Phillip Szabo; four grandchildren, Travis Fifer, Kaitlyn (Christopher) Pierce, David Hertzsch and Chelsie Briana Hertzsch, and three great grandchildren, Ainsley, Calum, and Wyatt.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Connie Szabo.
Kathy is a member of VFW Post 1138 Ladies Auxiliary and St. Michael the Archangel Church. Following her retirement from Federal-Mogul, she enjoyed taking care of everyone she loved. She spent her time hosting gatherings, cooking, playing bingo, and going to the casino with her family. Kathy was best known as a beacon for her family and friends. Her bright smile, kindness, and cheerful personality will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, where the VFW Post 1138 Ladies Auxiliary will conduct a service at 6 p.m. The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, Rev. Kishore Battu, pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Maybee.
