Karon J. Thorn, 70 years, a lifelong resident of Newport, MI, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital. Karon had been in declining health for the past six months.
Born April 18, 1942 in Monroe, MI, Karon was the daughter of Floyd C. and Anne (Fountain) Thorn. Karon grew up in Newport and was a 1960 graduate of Airport High School. She went on to attend Eastern Michigan University.
Karon worked as a bookkeeper for both Monroe Pattern Company and Monroe Bank and Trust.
Karon was a huge fan of the University of Michigan Football Program, she enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, and playing golf, she especially enjoyed golfing at Dundee Golf Course. She was a member of ABATE of Michigan, Region 18.
Karon is survived by her beloved mother: Anne of Newport, a brother: Kenneth (Shirley) Thorn of Nauvoo, AL, a sister: Kathryn Thorn Patterson of Monroe, two nephews: Adam and Kepp Thorn, a niece: Angela Yentz and several great nieces and nephews. Sadly, Karon was preceded in death by her father Floyd C. Thorn November 23, 1992.
In keeping with Karon's wishes cremation will be held, services will be private and interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park.
The Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe is assisting Karon's family with arrangements.
