Obituary

Judy M. Bussell, age 86, of Newport, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022 in her home surrounded by her family.
Judy was born October 5, 1935 in Monroe, she was the daughter of Ralph R. and Stella M. (Westerfield) Stokes. She married Ulus F. Bussell October 17, 1953 in Angola, Indiana.
She was a 1953 graduate of St. Mary Academy and a member of Grape Missionary Baptist Church where she played piano, was a Sunday school teacher and helped with Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed canning, gardening, bowling and reading.
Judy loved taking care of her family and making a home for them, she also was a nurse's aid at Mercy Memorial Hospital for 24 years, retiring in 1997.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ulus; three children, Lynda (Richard) Sonak of Monroe, Lora Butler of Newport and Henley Carl Bussell of Monroe; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Zelda Bussell and a grandson, Michael Bussell.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Rick Massingill, pastor of North Monroe Street Church of God, officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
