Surrounded by her loving family, Judith L. "Judy" Sype, age 81 of Monroe, was gently called home to be with her Lord Jesus on Saturday, April 12, 2025.
Born September 2, 1943 in Monroe, Judy was the daughter of Walter and Pearl (Coyne) Cooley. On October 26, 1968, she married Frederick R. "Fritz" Sype and together, they built a life of nearly 57 years. The cherished mother to her four children, and grandmother to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her life was a beautiful reflection of grace, kindness, and unwavering faith.
Judy's great love for her family was surpassed only by her love for The Lord. A devoted, charter member of Raisinville Baptist Church - now known as CrossPointe Church, Judy was a joyful worshipper who dedicated her time serving, and over the years was a faithful presence in Love Lifters and Women's Bible Studies. She lived out her faith with quiet devotion and a servant's heart.
To those who knew her best, Judy was the heart of her family, someone who treasured their time together and she poured her heart into every moment spent with them. She found joy in peaceful moments on her deck, listening to the wind chimes and watching the birds and any wildlife that happened to drop by. Judy enjoyed many visits to Hawaii and walking in the sand at the ocean as often as she could. She was an avid reader and loved crocheting. Her family will always remember her deep love of music and the way she lit up when she danced.
Judy is survived by her husband Fritz; her beloved children: Karen and Corey Niemchick (Derek, Shelby and Shane Miron, Ethan and Celissa), Michael and Alison Straub (Michael and Kari, Lauren and Topher Earhart, Jason and Angela), Colleen and James Vredeveld (Cameron, Kelsey), and Fred and Terra Sype; a sister, Kathleen Hovizi; and nine great-grandchildren: Cole, Kyla, Walter, Andora, Lennon, Malachi, Olivia, Wyatt, and Tori.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 18, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home. Judy will lie in state on Saturday, April 19, at 12:00 p.m. at CrossPointe Church, followed by a celebration of her life at 1:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Gethsemane Cemetery in Carleton.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the many friends who have surrounded them with love, prayers, and countless acts of kindness.
