Judith A. Groves, age 92 of Monroe, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Alice Lorraine Care Center.
Born July 11, 1932 in Monroe, Judy was the daughter of the late Wellington and Loretta (Quell) Marx. She graduated from St. Mary Academy in 1950 and married Warner I. Groves on April 21, 1951 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Together they raised five children. He passed on October 4, 2022.
Judy was employed by several local businesses including Woolworth Department Store, Bell Telephone, and Great Scott Grocery Store. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. She enjoyed horseback riding, flower gardening, crocheting, and especially attending her grandchildren's sporting events.
Judy is survived by her children, David (Jan) Groves of Monroe, Gary Groves of Toledo, OH, Linda (Mark) Zeitz of Monroe, Marilyn Butler of Monroe, and Christine (Dale) Bastien of Monroe; a sister, Sally Conlisk of Monroe; niece, Terri (Darryl) Eighmey of Harbor Springs, MI; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Judy was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Eugene Butler; brother-in-law, William Conlisk; great-granddaughter, Hailey Gould; and niece, Karen Conlisk.
Family and friends may visit from 10 a.m. until time of funeral at 12 p.m. Monday, July 22nd at Bacarella Funeral Home. Deacon Mike Stewart will officiate followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests supporting St. Michael Catholic Church or the Humane Society of Monroe County. The family would also like to thank the staff of ALCC and Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care given to Judy while in their care.
