Judith Arlene Garrett died Friday, July 14, 2023 at Waltonwood at Carriage Park, Canton, MI after a long battle with cancer.
She was born November 15, 1936 in Monroe, MI to Wheeler and Juanita (Stanifer) Hill. She was a 1954 graduate of Monroe High School and attended Monroe County Community College.
Her employment in Monroe included the position of executive secretary to the Superintendent of Monroe County Intermediate School District, and administrative assistant at the Monroe County Health Department. After relocating to Ocala, FL in 1985, she worked as a medical office manager until her retirement in 2001. Earlier in life she had been a volunteer for the Red Cross, Michigan Cancer, and Boy Scouts. She returned to Michigan in 2022 to be near family.
Judy was very proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She made every effort to attend important events, whether it was births, baptisms, sports, graduations, weddings, etc. Other activities she enjoyed were bowling, tennis, golf, traveling, concerts, opera, playing the piano, gardening, and reading.
She is survived by long time companion and best friend, Jerry Dennis of Ocala, FL; beloved sons Michael (Abramoski) Harmon of Dayton, OH and Edward (Mary Beth) Abramoski of Canton, MI. She was loving "Nana" to grandchildren, Corey Abramoski of Monroe, MI, Christopher (Maddie) Abramoski of Savannah, GA, Alyssa (Paul) Graf of Dearborn, MI, Kathryn (Paul) Hughesdon of Canton, MI and Joseph Abramoski of Canton, MI. She was recently blessed with great grandchildren Madeleine Graf, Clara Hughesdon and Callahan Abramoski.
Preceding her in death were her mother in 1995, father in 2004, brother, Donald L. Hill in 1951, husband, Capt. Leo B. Abramoski U.S. Army in 1964, husband, John F. Garrett in 2001 and daughter-in-law, Barbara Harmon in 2022.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 2 p.m. until funeral services at 4 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161. Rev. Zaid B. Chabaan, of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, will officiate. In accordance with Judy's wishes cremation and interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, MI.
Memorial contributions in Judy's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
