Judith A. Atwood, 81 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at her daughters home in Nashville, Michigan.
Born November 24, 1940 in Monroe, Judie was the daughter of the late Harold and Eleanor (Kurtz) Newberry. She was a 1958 graduate of Monroe High School.
On September 6, 1958 Judie married her beloved husband Spencer H. Atwood at Christ Lutheran Church in Monroe. Sadly, Spencer preceded her in death on January 4, 1999 after 40 years of marriage. Judy then met the second love of her life, David L. Jones. For the past 20 years they were inseparable. Their families became one family.
Judie was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed, camping, hunting for morel mushrooms, square dancing, crafts, puzzles and taking family pictures and transforming them into DVD's. Most of all Judie loved time spent with family.
Judie is survived by the second love of her life; David L. Jones and his family, three loving children: Gregory S. (Alison) Atwood of Columbiaville, MI, Kimberly S. Doig of Nashville, MI, and Chad A. Atwood of Monroe, a daughter in law, Sandra G. Atwood of Monroe and four cherished grandchildren: Sara N. Atwood, Spencer M. Atwood, Aaron M. Doig and Nathan A. Atwood.
In addition to her parents and husband Spencer, Judie was preceded in death by a son, Todd Michael Atwood, a son in law, Bruce Doig and a brother, Harold Newberry, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 – 7 pm at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161 where funeral services celebrating Judie's life will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
