Joyce A. Kiley, age 97 of Monroe, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2025 in her home.
Born February 3, 1928 in Erie, MI, Joyce was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Margaret (Freedman) Jacobs. On June 25, 1949 she married John W. Kiley at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie. Together they raised three children. Sadly, he passed on September 12, 2014.
Joyce loved children unconditionally. It was that passion that led her to become a Foster Care Mom. For several years, she devoted herself to better the lives of 30 children. Joyce was a dedicated homemaker and hard worker. For 30 years she did upholstery repair in her home.
Joyce was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and a former member of the River Raisin Trailer Club. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her children, Michael (Cynthia) Kiley of Monroe, Tammy Garber of Oak Harbor, OH, and Lawrence (Dee Webb) Kiley of Monroe; 6 grandchildren: Tina (Justin) Huschke, Karen (Dustin) Miller, Andrea (Curt) Cochran, Andrew Garber, Cassondra (Oli) Hohman, and Jaclyn (Josh) Lambert; 6 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Lauren, Conner, Quinn, Brooks, and Gracie.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Myron, Howard, and Robert Jacobs; and 3 sisters, Violet Labardee, Mona Rector, and Nancy Jacobs.
Family and friends may visit from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11th at Bacarella Funeral Home. Joyce will lie in state Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by the church pastor, Rev. Fr. Kishore Battu followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
