Joyce Fleuelling

Joyce Marion (Corbeille) Fleuelling, 91 years, of Monroe, Michigan passed away on Friday, September 7, 2012 in her home, surrounded by love. Born March 15, 1921 in Ypsilanti, MI, Joyce was the daughter of the late Arthur Albert and Elizabeth Mary (Hebert) Corbeille. Joyce received her bachelor’s degree in teaching from Michigan Normal College (Eastern Michigan University). On August 31, 1944 in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Joyce married her high school sweetheart Lewis Fleuelling in Ypsilanti. Lewis preceded Joyce in death in 1983 after 39 years of marriage. Joyce was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Monroe and sang in the church’s Resurrection Choir. Joyce was very active in and gave of herself to the community of Monroe. She was a member of the Sawyer Homestead, Friends in Council, and the Monroe Thrift Shop. She served on the Monroe County Community College’s Foundation Board and the Monroe board of the Karmanos Cancer Institute. Joyce was a member of the Monroe Golf and Country Club for over 60 years. She was an avid golfer and bridge player. Most of all Joyce was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. Joyce is survived by three loving children: Anne (Paul) Stehle of Saline, MI, Paul (Cheri) Fleuelling of Encinitas, CA, and Nancy Seelert of La Mesa, CA, seven cherished grandchildren: Matthew (Amy) Loy of Saline, MI, Melissa, Margaret and Andrew Loy all of Ann Arbor, MI, Dana Fleuelling of Encinitas, CA, and Andrew and Madeleine Seelert of La Mesa, CA, and by her dear friends Russ and Victoria Cusumano and their family. In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by three sisters: Louise Seiquist, Lillian Holly, and Genevieve Lonskey, and her long time companion Howard Kreuchauf. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe, where Sister Kate O’Brien will conduct a Scripture Service at 7:00 PM. On Friday, September 14, 2012 she will lie in state at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Monroe from 9:30 AM until Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her life at 10:00 AM. Fr. Bob Singelyn will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe or to the Monroe Cancer Connection.
