Joyce A. Barrett, age 78, of Ida, MI passed away, Sunday, October 5, 2008 in her home. Joyce was born January 30, 1930 in Mayville, MI the daughter of the late Leonard and Lucille (Walker) Mikesell. At an early age Joyce and her parents moved to Monroe where Joyce attended school and was a 1948 graduate of Monroe High School. On September 25, 1949 Joyce married her beloved husband Richard E. Barrett at the First Methodist Church in Monroe. The Rev. Bender performed the ceremony. Joyce was an exquisite homemaker and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Joyce's other memberships include; a life member of the Sawyer Homestead, a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Town and Country Garden Club. Joyce is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Richard, 4 loving children; Michael E. (Carolyn) Barrett of Ida, Susan G. (Ed Bracken) Barrett of Archbold, OH, David L. (Joan) Barrett of Plymouth, MI and Ann L. (John) McCormick of Alameda, CA, 5 cherished grandchildren; Elisabeth, Kathleen and Jennifer Barrett, and Kelly and Daniel McCormick. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home. On Wednesday, October 8, 2008 she will be taken to St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she will lie in state from 10:00 AM until funeral services celebrating her life at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Evans C. Bentley pastor of the church will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Suggested memorial contributions are to St. Paul's United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
