Joseph R. Minney, 70 Years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, MI, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2011 in his home. He had been in declining health for the past 2 years.
Born May 20, 1941 in Monroe Joe was the son of the late Roy Joseph and Angela Rose (Malburg) Minney.
Joe attended St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He attended both St. Joseph and Lincoln Elementary Schools. He married the former Thelma Sandifer in Tennessee.
Joe was employed as a yardman for North Star Recycling in Monroe from which he retired in 1997.
Joe enjoyed his cats, watching wrestling, "Cops", and old television shows, He also enjoyed listening to Fats Domino music and country music from years gone by.
Joe is survived by 3 loving children; Michael J. (Nancy) Goda of Monroe, and Kimberly Jo and Kristy Lyn Minney both of Newport, MI, 4 cherished grandchildren; Michael, Alicia and Cyndi Goda, and Christine (Ed) McCoy, a treasured great granddaughter; Serenity McCoy and 1 brother; George H. Minney of Monroe.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Rose and Kathleen Minney and his life partner; Ada Goda.
Joe's family will greet friends on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, from 3:00 PM until a Memorial Service celebrating his life at 4:00 PM. The Rev. Kenny Spain will officiate.
