Joseph M. McIntyre

Joseph M. McIntyre, 64 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 20, 2014 in Downers Grove, Illinois. Born March 30, 1950 in Monroe, Joe was the son of the late Charles S. and Marion F. (Jacob) McIntyre, Jr. Joe was a 1968 graduate of Cranbrook Schools in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and his master’s degree in business administration from Michigan State University in East Lansing. On November 6, 1979 he married the former Genevieve L. Bender in Monroe. Joe was a self employed businessman. He along with his wife Jenny owned and operated Uniglobe Travel in Monroe for many years. Joe was a co owner of Guardian Self Storage in Monroe Joe was very civic minded and gave back to the community of Monroe. Joe was a board member of The Monroe County Community College Foundation for 15 years and was a member of St. Nick’s Club. He was very creative and artistic. He enjoyed his dogs, playing the piano, cross country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling, boating, gardening, traveling, and deer camp. Joe also enjoyed spending time in northern Michigan at the family lodge, “Charlie’s Clan” and at his home in Sand Point. More than anything Joe loved being with friends and family. Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Jenny, his loving daughter and son in law: Dr. Maris F. McIntyre and Benjamin W. Tull of Westmont, IL, a cherished grandson: Chance McIntyre Tull, and two brothers: James T. (Kay Cain) McIntyre of Sand Point, MI and R. Kevin McIntyre of Monroe and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by two brothers: Charles S. McIntyre, II, David L. McIntyre and two infant sisters. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161, where funeral services celebrating Joe’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Deacon Michael Stewart, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Alliance for Spay/Neuter and Pet Rescue, P.O.
