Joseph S. Keck Sr., 69 years, of Monroe, MI passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2010 in Mercy Memorial Hospital where he had been since Tuesday. Joe was born July 10, 1940 in Monroe, MI the son of the late Rev. Roy and Eva (Goin) Keck. Joe attended Monroe Public Schools and was a 1959 graduate of Monroe High School where he played drums and tuba in the band. On January 7, 1961 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe, Joe married his beloved wife the former Antoinette M. Cicero. Fr. Stein officiated at the ceremony. Joe began his career as a grocery store manager at Boys Market in Long Beach CA. After leaving Boys Market, Joe moved back to Monroe where he managed the Great Scott Store for 15 years. Joe then became the manager of the Wholesale House in Dearborn, MI from which he retired in 2005. Joe was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish and work in his garden. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Red Wings, and the Tigers. Above all, Joe loved his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years; Antoinette, 2 loving children; Joseph S. (Amy) Keck Jr. and Karen M. Lee both of Monroe, 4 cherished grandchildren; Caitlin, Aaron Joseph, Meganne and KateMarie and his sister Virginia Glendon Beason of New Tazewell, TN. In addition to his parents Joe was preceded in death by his brother in law Paris Roy Beason. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 5-8 PM and Sunday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe, where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Monday February 1, 2010 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Roy Southerland, pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made directly to Mr. Keck's family.
