John Paul Smith, age 68 of Roseville, MI, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 1st at Macomb Ascension Hospital in Warren, Michigan.
Born June 17, 1953 in Cairo, IL, John was the son of the late James and Hazel (Newcomb) Smith.
For John, music was his life. Whether he was playing his guitar with his band, collecting vinyl records or memorabilia, or impersonating Elvis under his stage name "Elvis Shelton", John was always happiest when music was somehow involved.
John is survived by three children: John Smith of Monroe, Angel (Troy Short) Smith of Monroe, and Thomas (Emily McCall) Smith of Dundee; three siblings: Jimmy Smith of Kentucky, Betty (Diana) Smith of Canton, MI, and Nancy Williams of Troy, MI; and seven grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8th at Bacarella Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Pastor Joe Singleton will officiate followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park.
