Obituary

John A. Rieger, 83 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, MI went home to be with The Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 9:05 PM in The Lutheran Home of Monroe.
Born December 26, 1929 in Monroe, MI, John was the son of the late John H. and Cora E. (Kull). John attended school in Monroe and was a 1947 graduate of Monroe High School.
On August 22, 1959 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Monroe John married his beloved wife the former Louella J. Sweat.
John was a self employed farmer in Monroe for many years; most notably a dairy farmer. John also planted over 500 acres of crops. He retired from farming in 2005.
John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed deer hunting and snowmobiling. John was also an artist and painting was a favorite pastime of his. Most of all John loved his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Louella, two loving children: Karen L. (Jon) Taylor of Lawton, MI and Robert J. (Tammy) Rieger of Monroe, and two cherished grandchildren: Jaron and Jasper.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers: James and Robert Rieger and a sister Carolyn Rieger.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe, where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 2:00 PM. The Rev. Jeffery Heimsoth, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church, The Lutheran Home of Monroe or Promedica Hospice.
