John D. Grassel's Obituary
John D. Grassel, age 62 of Monroe, passed away Monday, March 29, 2021 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Born March 16, 1959 in Monroe, John was the son of Wilbur and Georgetta (Carney) Grassel. He married Mary F. Scheick at Trinity Lutheran Church and was employed by General Motors in Romulus for 30 years.
John was an avid boater and fisherman. He was also an avid softball player for many years in various leagues in Monroe, Frenchtown and Brownstown. He also liked deer hunting and was a member of UAW Local 163 in Westland.
John is survived by a daughter, Cherry Grassel of Monroe; son, James Grassel of Monroe; father, Wilbur Grassel of Monroe; brother, David Grassel of Monroe; two sisters, Susan (Roger) Tassel of Plymouth, MI and Amy (David) Ayers of Illinois.
John was preceded in death by his mother Georgetta Grassel, Father James Ballantine, and a brother Roy Grassel.
In keeping with John's wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. His family will have a private gathering at a later date. Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
