John W. Eoff, 53, of Monroe, passed away at the University of Michigan Hospital, on May 19, 2010, after a courageous fight with cancer for 3 years.
He was born August 9, 1956 in Wyandotte, MI to Robert S. and Elaine M. (Foster) Eoff. They moved to the area from Wyandotte when John was 12, he attended Jefferson Schools and graduated in 1974. On August 1, 1981 he married Kay Mayes in Monroe. They attend Monroe Full Gospel Church. He was employed by Jefferson Public Schools a custodian for 32 years, retiring in 2007.
John was an avid sports fan who loved following the Detroit Red Wings and Tigers; he also was an Ernie Harwell Fan, enjoyed NASCAR and Jeff Gordon and enjoyed fishing. John took great pride in his home, landscaping, and yard, he loved going to auctions looking for things to buy, especially good deals, and collected Indian artifacts. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Kay, his mother, a step son, Shannon (Julie) Farris of Dundee, 2 sisters, Sally (Tim) Dussia of LaSalle and Sandy Eoff of Newport, and 4 loving grandchildren, Cherokee, Darian, Anthony, and Bethany Farris who knew him as "Papa John".
Sadly, he was preceded in death by his father in 2005.
Friends may call at the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Road, from 4-8 PM Saturday and 12-8 PM Sunday. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held at 2 PM Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Harold Raines of Monroe Full Gospel Church and Rev. Gary Pickrell of Victory Temple Church of God officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Flat Rock.
