Joel A. Cloum, age 59 of Monroe, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Corewell Hospital in Trenton, MI.
Born December 7, 1965 in Monroe, Joel was the son of the late Elmer and Jeannie (Carmel) Cloum. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1984 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. He served from Sept. 4, 1984 until being honorably discharged on Apr. 5, 1985.
On March 24, 2006, Joel married Cheryl A. (Coss) McKenzie at the LaSalle Presbyterian Church.
Joel was employed for 22 years at the Meijer Warehouse as a security guard in the Loss Prevention Dept., retiring in 2009. His hobbies included fishing, bowling and playing golf.
Joel is survived by his wife Cheryl; 5 children: Brandi (Cameron) Morgan, Randall (Natasha) Cloum, Raymond (Matt) McKenzie, Angela McKenzie, and William (Amanda) McKenzie; 8 grandchildren and 6 step brothers and sisters.
Per Joel's request, private services will be held at LaSalle Twp. Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Monroe VFW Post 1138. Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
